Reviewing Third Edition of ‘A Guide Book of Civil War Tokens’

Picture yourself at a coin show at a friendly dealer’s table looking through a box of Indian Head cents in 2x2s. You come upon what appears to be a slightly odd-looking Indian Head copper cent dated 1863. You know without looking it up that 1863 Indian Head cents weren’t struck in copper or bronze. Instead they were copper nickels and would be for part of 1864. When you turn it over, you find a reverse that shows a wreath enclosing the words “Not One Cent,” with “Not” in a reduced size relative to “One Cent.” So what’s that odd-looking piece
