Why did you study zoology? I’ve loved nature ever since I can remember – especially animals and reptiles. I grew up next to Nelspruit Nature Reserve and I spent a lot of time there with my dog Chunky, looking for snakes and other creepy-crawlies.

This led me to enrol for a bachelor’s degree in Biodiversity and Ecology at Stellenbosch University. Afterwards, I went on to do my master’s degree in Zoology with a focus on Herpetology, the study of reptiles and amphibians. I was proud to be awarded the Junior Captain Scott
