THE news came as a shock. Zindzi Mandela, the daughter of South Africa’s most famous struggle icons, was gone.
Tributes came pouring in from around the world for the country’s first and so far only ambassador to Denmark, who died suddenly at the age of 59 at the Morningside Clinic in Sandton, Joburg.
Her passing means only two of Madiba’s six children are still alive: Zenani Dlamini, Zindzi’s older sister, and Pumla Makaziwe Mandela, his daughter from his first marriage to Evelyn Mase.
We look back at the life and times of the brave and defiant Zindzi.
