s a consignment buyer travelling to the US around four times a year, locating, shipping, importing, and complying vehicles to order, Andy Brooking from American Customs & Classics knows his stuff. Over the years, he’s imported over 125 vehicles, a few for himself, but mainly on consignment for clients who know that he knows where the good deals are and what to look out for. A few years back, he brought in a 1957 Chev Pickup, not for a customer, but for himself. “I had a fair idea of the current USA market for high-end classic trucks, and found this one as, as we featured it in Issue No. 147. As good as the truck was, however, Andy’s not one to hold on to cars for too long, so it was always going to be for sale. Rather than go through the process of getting the car road legal here, he instead turned his attention back to US, knowing that that’s where the real money was. “I knew the best way to maximize my investment was to take it to auction, and what bigger auction was there than Las Vegas Barrett-Jackson? So, with a six-month lead time, I got cracking.”
