KNIFEMAKERS TO THE RESCUE CONCLUSION

Like knifemaker Lucas Burnley (page 10, July BLADE®), maker Brad Southard recognized a need surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic and answered the call.

Also like Lucas, Brad uses a 3D printer to make personal protection equipment (PPE)—in Brad’s case, ear savers for nurses and doctors in his home area in and around Tucson, - grader named Quinn Callander. Quinn saw where many local nurses and doctors had marks and bruises on their faces from wearing masks. He answered a plea from local hospitals to create ear guards or savers to relieve the facial pressure the masks create.
