What is your background in the Reined Cow Horse Industry?

I was first exposed to the reined cowhorse event around 1996 in New Zealand. At that time, I was showing in Quarter Horse shows as youth and would enter everything from the english and halter classes to the cowhorse. I eventually started to focus on the reining, cowhorse and cutting and got to work for some great trainers in the US and Australia as well as training professionally.

In 2009 I took a break from training professionally and while still involved with horses, focused on other interests including running several ultramarathons which in hindsight has turned out to be great preparation for managing a training business! Cowhorses were always in my mind however and a trip to the US with my wife Kate, led us to reconsider our goals and involvement with horses. We attended the 2014 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity in Reno, Nevada and that first day, when we walked into the arena and took it all in, it just felt like coming home. When we returned to Australia, we purchased our place just out of Myrtleford, North East Victoria and started getting back in to training.
