FAIRY POOLS, ISLE OF SKYE
t’s easy to imagine fairies dancing in the vibrant turquoise pools that lie in the foothills of the jagged Black Cuillin Mountains. As the River Brittle shimmies to the sea, it creates waterfalls, streamlets, stepping stones and pools of crystal water surrounded by ferns, purple heather and lichen. On a sunny day, the pools’ greens and blues are at their best, lit up to create a magical realm. Look out for rabbits and deer,The 5km circular walk from the Fairy Pools car park to the furthest waterfall is dotted with burbling waterfalls. You can continue further up away from the crowds along the trail all the way to the base of the mountain.
