Grandpap’s ’Shine Runner

If Cesar Tagliati hadn’t had a good memory and a willingness to keep his word, his 1938 Chevy pickup might have left the family and disappeared.

“It was my grandfather’s,” said Bob Tagliati, of Saltsburg, Pa. “He had a dairy farm and they delivered milk house-to-house in glass bottles. From the farm, they would go to Saltsburg, my grandfather and my uncle, and they would always stop at my parents’ house. I was about 10 or 12 years old and I was standing on the running board, talking to my grandfather and I asked him what he was going to do with the truck. He wanted to know why and I said, ‘Well, I’d like to have it.’ He said, ‘OK.’
