Stadler 'Flirt' deliveries completed

ALL 20 of Greater Anglia's new 12--car Stadler EMUs are now in the country following the arrival of the final set No. 745110 on May 7, which was hauled from Ripple Lane to Norwich by No. 66001.

Entering traffic on the Liverpool Street to Norwich route on May 13 was No. 745108. Although the '745/1' fleet is planned for use on Stansted Express duties, being Standard Class only with extra luggage space, they have yet to be used on these services and the four such units that have been used to date (Nos. 745105-108) have only operated on the Norwich line.

The Class 745/1 fleet is due to replace Class 379 'Electrostar' units on Stansted services. The '379s', which are now owned by Akiem after its acquisition of Macquarie European Rail, are due to go off lease on August 1.

Also now in traffic is No. 755401, the unit making its first appearance on April 25. Still to undertake revenue-earning duties are Nos. 755325/403.

The failure of No. 745002 while working the 1P04/06.30 Liverpool Street-Norwich on May 11 resulted in its booked return working, the 1P23/09.00 Norwich-Liverpool Street, being operated by No. 755327 as far as Colchester, where a pair of '321s' (Nos. 321352/432) took over for the remainder of the journey. It returned north in the path of the 11.30 ex-Liverpool
