Okay, so I'll put my cards on the table. I have used Nikon exclusively as my 35mm system since1985. I shot the Nikon Df brochure and for two years (the maximum time allowed) was a brand ambassador for Nikon UK and am now currently working alongside Zeiss and LEE Filters as an ambassador. I have no axe to grind and no one is paying me to switch systems, it is something I have decided to do for a variety of reasons.

So why change systems after so many years of loyalty to a brand that has stood the test of time, helped me produce great results that brought recognition from around the world. Is there a problem? Put simply, yes there is a problem and that problem is me.

I have reached an age where, quite frankly, I do not want to be lugging a huge backpack around, stuffed with a large camera body and myriad heavy zooms. I want portability in a quality package that meets my current photographic needs, not a bag full of heavy kit which may or may not get used, but I'd better lug it around just in case it is needed. I am way past that. I could, of course, stick with Nikon and its Z 6 or Z 7 mirrorless offerings, both of which are good cameras. In fact, Nikon sent
