Why does Live View in EOS Utility look so dark when using flash for shots?

Rick Robett, Tarporley

If you’re using flash then the odds are you’re using Manual mode with a fast shutter speed, then you may find Live View dark on the LCD and in EOS Utility. This is because the camera simulates the exposure for the chosen shutter, aperture and ISO settings.
