Smart plans with stinging nettle

At this time of year, stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) tends to get out of hand in the garden, especially in our winter-rainfall region.

Although it is classified as a common weed, stinging nettle has been eaten and used for medicinal purposes for centuries. It is rich in vitamins, minerals and chlorophyll, and the late Margaret Roberts praised it as “one of the best substances ever discovered for treating gout and arthritis”.
