IMAGINE LIFE AFTER COVID -19
Diagonal Thoughts is an architectural duo group of Kang Sojin and Kim Sara, searching for space by the medium of architecture, design, and thought. They are interested in how to conceptually define and construct intangible space with various methodologies and matters (materials), focusing on how those who experience space change their perception, not just confining their work scope to physical construction.
Noh Kyungrok studied at Department of Architectural Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University, and is the principal of Z-Lab. Z-Lab has performed a wide range of space design works encompassing branding, architecture, interiors, and styling. He is also a co-founder of Stayfolio. His major works include Around Follie (winner of 2018 Red Dot Award), Baguni Hostel (winner of 2017 Good Design Award), and a series of remodeling projects such as Blind Whale, Daily Songdang, Jocheon Masil, and Nuwa.
Ever since Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) began to spread across the world, we have lived in a landscape only witnessed in science fiction movies; everyone on the street passes each other with masks half-covering their faces, infrared thermometers flicker throughout the city, and office workers dress only in tops as they conduct video conference calls from their homes. In recognition of the fact that we will not be free from infectious diseases of a similar threat in the future, we put a question to a number of architects – ‘How will our lives change after COVID-19?’ – and received the below impressions, all of which build to offer shoots of possibility beyond our present time.
