Restoration Basics Change in Oil - Again!

The last decade has seen an untold number of changes in most aspects of life. So, it is hard to believe that it was 10 years ago that the current specifications governing the manufacture of engine lubricating oil were implemented. These current standards are referred to ILSAC GF-5 (International Lubricants Standardization and Approval Committee) and as SN by API (American Petroleum Institute).

Those standards are about to change. Engine oils meeting new standards were expected to roll out May 1, 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic may affect that schedule. Engine oil standards are clearly identified on the container
