Decorative plasterwork has long been a feature in houses, impressing visitors and celebrating the skill of the craftspeople who created it. Early cornices were ‘run’ in situ and embellished with ‘enrichments’ cast separately in moulds. The process for producing decorative plasterwork was revolutionised in 1865, however, when fibrous plaster was patented.
