Samuel Colt will always be associated with revolving arms. However, he did not invent them because there were revolvers — both pistols and rifles — known well before he came on the scene. In fact, Colt may have seen revolver arms in London at the time of his visit in 1830 as a crewman on the merchant ship Corvo.
