Mayor in New York honored for service and Red Sox Nation fandom
Bob Blais is New York state’s longest-tenured mayor, a title he’s earned with nearly a half-century of dedicated service to the Village of Lake George, a popular resort town nestled in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains.
But when it comes to baseball, his heart and soul belong to the Boston Red Sox, which he’s followed since boyhood days growing up in Newton, Mass., and later as a Boston University pitcher in the 1950s.
Last August 17, in tribute to his long-time public service and Red Sox Nation fandom, Blais was treated to the unforgettable experience of tossing out the ceremonial first pitch prior to a Fenway Park contest, which Boston won, 13-7, in dramatic comeback fashion over the Baltimore Orioles.
