Reflecting on hobby news and my contacts with other collectors during these difficult times. Here are some of the names and stories which have surfaced recently:

GIL COAN (1922-2020)

I wrote an article about my fantasy team of the oldest then-living major leaguers (“Super senior players still got game,” , Feb. 8 and 22, 2013). Gil Coan was my American League left fielder. I was able to reach Coan and asked if he could play the outfield in my fantasy game. He said that in the last old-timers’ game he played, he tore his rotator cuff. But he humored me and said he was fine playing on a fantasy team as long as he didn’t have cover story of Oct. 13, 2013. Son Gil Coan Jr. was also very helpful in responding.
