IN THE GARDEN WITH SARAH RAVEN

It’s light now right into the evening. In Sussex we can start to garden without cumbersome layers of clothing. That’s freeing, expansive and optimistic, with the feeling that outdoor life is truly on.

With this comes changeover in the garden, with tulips finishing in their pots and the borders leaving lots of holes. But with the frosts ending, those gaps can be plugged by half-hardy annuals and dahlias, desperate to get out. It’s the busiest planting time.
