Napalm Girl

've been meaning to write to you about ‘Napalm Girl' since your interview with Nick Ut (AP 7 March), but it took Shaun Parker's letter (11 April) to remind me. Thanks, Shaun. I still recall the colossal impact of this picture when I saw it on first publication in 1972, and in the form that you (and most others) published it – it has lost none of its power in the last 48 years. However, I also remember being equally shocked when some years later I saw the uncropped version. I wonder what was going through the mind of the photographer on the right of the picture, for him to conclude that changing
