    WHAT TO DO IN APRIL

    ■ Feed tomato plants weekly with a high potash fertiliser to encourage flowers and fruit development.

    ■ Basil germinates much better in warm conditions, so now is the perfect time to sow in pots or cell trays.

    ■ Sow pak choi in modules and start them off undercover to produce young plants ready for planting out in July.
