STALLING CAMARO

Q: I have been reading your magazine for years. I hope you can help.

I have a 1994 Camaro Z28, with the 5.7-liter LT1. When the temperature gauge goes over a quarter, the car stalls, just as if you turned the key off.

I have changed the gas cap, battery, alternator, Optispark unit, water pump, coil, and three ignition control modules. (I finally bought an ACDelco ignition control module, but that still didn’t help). I also changed the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve and the EGR control solenoid, and I put a vacuum gauge on to check the vacuum lines —there were no leaks. I changed the sending unit on the water pump, too. When replacing the coil, the coil wire broke off, so I replaced both plugs that connect to the coil.

When I bought the car, the key was broken off in the ignition, so I replaced that also. I put a cat-back exhaust on when I first got it, and it ran great for five or
