Remembering yacht designer Colin Mudie

Yacht designer Colin Mudie, who worked for Laurent Giles, has died. He was 93 and passed away on 11 March, 2020.

Born in Edinburgh in 1926, Colin studied engineering at Southampton University before serving his apprenticeship with the for Patrick Ellam, founder of the Junior Offshore Group (JOG). Together, they sailed the yacht, which had two bunks, a small chart table, galley and cockpit, from Falmouth across the Atlantic, arriving in Barbados in 1952.
