STRETCH It Out

Ever been to a yoga class and found yourself in awe of others who can bend into all sorts of wild positions while, in contrast, you struggle to touch your toes most days?

Don’t be put off. Working on your flexibility can help with so many aspects of health and wellbeing, from correcting posture to calming your mind – so, whatever your level, it’s time to get flexy.

American couple Max and Liz Lowenstein – founders of Instagram page @inflexibleyogis, which has amassed over 1.1m followers – are on a mission to make yoga accessible to everyone.

In their book , the pair share 44 yoga moves that help flex the entire body. Here, you’ll find five. Each can be done at home and is broken down into three stages. Start where you feel comfortable and work your way over time into the advanced positions. If at any point you experience a sharp, stabbing feeling in a particular area, then you’re moving on too quickly and this may lead to injury.
