Getting off to a good start

With the onset of summer we – hopefully – have many things to look forward to, one of them being gundog training. It’s the perfect opportunity to take stock of the highs and lows of the season and think about what we want to work on and how are we going to address the problems that may have developed in the field.

Whether you have a picking-up, beating or a peg dog, you’ve had plenty of time to reflect on your experience. Do you feel you’ve achieved success with your gundog? How many of us have had an enjoyable season beating or picking-up and now need some help with issues that have arisen in the field? Do you need to home in on specific areas and practise for the forthcoming working test season?
