The other Green Party

Few will have forgotten the insistent rage of Greta Thunberg last September when she called the “civilised” world to book for what it has done to the planet. She stirred up a lot of people and engaged some of them with an environmental conscience that, perhaps, they didn’t know they had.

Once the indignation — and jealousy — of seeing Greta saying the sort of things I used to say getting so much attention, when I had failed, I reflected on the arguments I had won and the ideas that had worked and thought, “Good for you! You tell ’em”.

And here’s why: I think that we should all join the Green Party. Well, sort of. Not perhaps in its current form. More church fetes and bunting than striking bin men; perhaps more of a Village Green Party. Look at this from the
