Taking its name from the ninth-century Indian emperor, King Kulashekhara, Kula Shaker got together in 1995. Taking influence from Indian traditional music and 60s rock, the band took the 90s back in time with a sound reminiscent of The Beatles’ psychedelic era, mixed with the rock prowess of Deep Purple and the experimental nature of The Grateful Dead.
