STEVE RIDER: TALKING A GOOD GAME IN THE NAME OF CHARITY
It is a time of reflection for a lot of people. Being stuck at home has given most the time to do those long-forgotten (or long put-off) jobs, and people everywhere have been fleeing to their sheds to escape the worries of the world.
ITV4’s British Touring Car Championship anchor man Steve Rider is one of them.
But Rider’s shed is a treasure trove of artefacts and memorabilia which stretch back over his four decades as the face of sports coverage for a variety of broadcasters. Those items gave Rider an idea: he is offering up for auction a selection of priceless articles that he has stashed away over the last 40 years.
Rider talked to internet radio show Tin Top Tuesday for a special edition, which was first broadcast yesterday and is available through the championship’s website – items including everything from parts of a Volvo S40 BTCC car he shunted to a rare BBC TV pitlane reporters’fireproof suit.
