The 27th of April is coming up, and the Grade R teacher takes the opportunity to tell her class about patriotism. “We live in a great country,” she says. “One of the things we should be happy about is that, in this country, we’re all free.” One little boy walks up to her from the back of the room. He stands with his hands on his hips and says, “I’m not free. I’m five.”
