that's life!

Welcome!

how are you and yours adjusting to this new (ab)normal way of life? It’s upsetting and frightening and frustrating for many. And for some it’s just heartbreaking. I’m sure amonghave you in our thoughts. The same goes for those dealing with other health conditions, not related to the virus. With so many people now confined to their homes, we are all being called on to get creative with our time. I hope our article on page 14 by mum-of-two Emma, will give you some ideas, no matter what your circumstance. My personal contribution to Emma’s great tips is a virtual dinner party. My husband, Simon, and I hosted one on the weekend. We ‘invited’ the same five people we’d cancelled our plans with a few weekends ago. Everyone was asked to dress up from the waist up and we each prepared a dinner and some drinks with nibbles. We used Zoom, because I had to install that on my laptop for work meetings. But do a bit of googling to see what could work for you. Our dinner was such fun. It went for three hours and we felt like we’d had a proper catch-up. But I didn’t have to do a big house clean beforehand and there was very little to clean up afterwards. Which made it win-win in my book. Another er, Chrystal, said her dinner party, which connected friends around Australia, lasted five hours! ‘We all wondered why we hadn’t done it before,’ she said. Amber’s partner, Dean, attended a virtual poker game, while Kathryn had a virtual trivia night. Liz has arranged a regular Friday get-together with her girlfriends. I guess it’s all about being inventive. And of course, there is the phone. I’ve spent a lot of time catching up with old friends over the phone. I’d love to hear how are keeping connected!
