ISLAND CELEBRATION IS TREE-MENDOUS
Madagascar is planning a unique celebration to mark its 60th anniversary of independence on 26 June.
President Andry Rajoelina has kicked off a project to plant 60 million trees across the island to restore its lost forests. Planting began in January (below), when one million trees and seeds were bedded in in Ankazobe district.
“I encourage the people to protect the environment and reforest for the benefit of the future generations,” President Rajoelina said.
