How about those 1990s, huh? It’s a decade that properly delivered. The world was blessed with grunge, Tamagotchi, OJ Simpson’s bid for freedom at the wheel of a white Ford Bronco, and who could forget Tom Cruise’s finest moment playing Cole Trickle in the Nascar epic Days of Thunder? The era was also responsible for much of our ‘import’ modifying culture. Japanese performance came of age, while turbochargers and technology amped up the pace in more ways than one. The decade of the homologation special only pressurized the performance car arms race, and all the while touring car racing was loudly reaching its absolute zenith.
