One night in 2011, Giacomo Bruzzo found himself walking through the streets of Genoa’s old town in the city he’d called his home until the early 90s, when he’d left for academic life in London. On his headphones were the rough mixes of tracks submitted for release on RareNoiseRecords, the label Bruzzo co-founded with Eraldo Bernocchi in 2009. The project was called Naked Truth and featured trumpeter Cuong Vu, King Crimson drummer Pat Mastelotto, pianist Roy Powell and bassist Lorenzo Feliciati. Although Bruzzo knew of the players and their reputations, up until that point the music hadn’t gelled with him.
