Getting physical in the great outdoors brings more benefits to mind and body than just hitting the gym. The concept of ‘green exercise’, or an activity taken in the presence of nature is proving to be very positive in terms of increasing our long-term health outcomes.

It’s not just the fresh air – there seem to be several interesting reasons why. Firstly, the very colour green has been shown to have a beneficial impact on mood. Those exposed to shades of green while working out show reduced feelings of anger and frustration compared with those observed in red or grey surroundings.
