As this year is the 200th anniversary of the arrival of the 1820 Settlers in South Africa, I was fascinated to read Don Pinnock’s historical journeys piece (January 2020) about the Griqua leader, Adam Kok, and his arrival in the Eastern Cape in what was then Mpondo and Xhosa territories.
