CHAINSAW MAINTENANCE

If we plan to spend trouble-free time on the road, we need to service our tow-tugs regularly, both to ensure longevity and to avoid being stranded on a remote back road. It’s the same story with our caravans. Whether we’re tinkering with them in the shed, or having them dealt with by a registered mechanic, a little bit of preventative maintenance goes a long way.

The same goes for many other bits of kit that we rely on when we’re away. Consider for a moment the sheer volume of mechanical, electrical and other gear we reach for when we’re travelling. While some may be ‘set-andforget’, others require routine maintenance.

One of these campsite staples is ‘The Little Engine that Could’ that many of us keep tucked away in the storage box on our A-frame; I’m talking here about chainsaws. We carry these to clear fallen trees off back roads or to cut firewood for camp oven coals where local regulations permit. Several reputable chainsaw manufacturers market smaller models
