STEVE HARLEY

For legendary English singer-songwriter Steve Harley, it’s been a long time between drinks — 10 years, in fact. That’s how long it’s been since he released his last studio album, 2010’s Stranger Comes to Town. But in the ensuing decade, he’s been kept busy, adhering to a touring schedule that has seen the 69-year-old continue to perform to sell-out shows all over Europe and appear at many of Europe’s major music festivals. In 2012, he also toured Australia for the first time, and I was honored to have been chosen by Harley to play guitar for him on that inaugural tour. In fact, Harley is now busier than he’s ever been.

Better known for his 1970s outfit Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, he achieved huge worldwide success with his now-signature song “Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me),” which topped the U.K. and French charts and made it to the Top 10 in many other countries around the world
