ANCIENT & MODERN

There is a trend, as we inevitably age, for some of us to ditch the labour-intensive old relic for something where you just press a button and go. I am equally sure that a very high proportion of RC readers run a modern(ish) machine alongside their classic P&J. The logic behind such a lifestyle choice seems both simple and inescapable; a motorcycling treasure for high days and holidays, and a reliable modern machine for everyday riding tasks.

This train of thought set me considering. What is a good workable contrast of ancient and modern machinery? (I hope that those of you who suffered many a Sunday school and the interminable accompanying church service get the reference!) Which contrasting bikes go together like fish and chips? Or do some pairings just not work?
