When Rolf von Bueren, first arrived in Thailand in 1962, one of his first impressions, as described by him, “was the abundance of food and natural resources, and the intricate skill applied to minute aspects of daily life, such as traditional Thai fruit carving that creates ‘art one can eat”. Little did he realise that this observation was just the beginning of a lifelong love affair. Rolf met his wife, Helen, in Thailand, and after marriage, it was her hobby – creating original and bespoke sculptures, bric-a-brac and art objects, that led to the founding of their unique atelier, Lotus Art De Vivre. So passionately engaged are the couple with their creative business, that they have been known to travel as many as 200 days per year, sourcing supplies and seeking visual inspiration for their designs.
