MARATHA SUPREMACY
PANGA
aya Nigam (Kangana Ranaut) is a world-class player, who loses her identity being a wife and a mother. She yearns to make a comeback to the game at the age of 32. Aided by supportive husband Prashant Shrivastava (Jassi Gill), son Adi (Yagya Bhasin) and coach Meenu (Richa Chadha), she restarts her journey. How she survives the physical travails and societal pressures makes for an inspiring narrative. Director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari gets the details right. Be it the tiny cubicle where Jaya works as a ticket seller or the grimy railway quarter where she lives. Jaya and Prashant are everyday people, having everyday concerns. Their conversations revolve around their child’s homework and his health. Even when she starts is a film made by a woman, with women at its centre, making a case for women, who need to retain their identities.
