The cluster of Raj-era buildings holds an array of exhibits but the collection of astonishingly beautiful, ancient Chola bronze sculptures was pivotal in securing the East India Company’s foothold in South India. Although much of it remains off-limits, the small museum and St Mary’s (Asia’s oldest Anglican church) welcome visitors and are key historical sights.
