Herbed Brie and Egg Casserole

MAKES 6 TO 8 SERVINGS

1 (16-ounce) loaf Italian bread, cubed
2 (8-ounce) wheels of Brie, rind trimmed
½ cup chopped fresh basil
8 large eggs
3 cups half-and-half
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup chopped roasted red pepper
Garnish: fresh basil leaves
