Hilo Trollers July Tournament Results
The Hilo Trollers held a safe and successful offshore fishing tournament on Sunday, July 7. The weather forecast was iffy, but the conditions did not warrant small-craft advisories. Fifteen boats were entered.
Three marlin were landed, but only one qualified with a minimum weight of 100-lbs. The JOANIE ANN with Capt. Rawen Peltier and crew landed a 109.6-lb marlin, the largest fish of the tournament. The JOANIE ANN has landed all four flag fish this season, and Capt. Rawen is in the lead for the Fisherman of the Year Award.
The largest ‘ahi and second largest fish overall was a 107.8-pounder landed on the CLAIRE II by Capt. Matt Castro and crew. The largest ono weighed 38.3 lbs and was landed on the by Capt. Brian Catriz and crew. No mahimahi were landed.
