Living for the Epic Weekends

I love spending the weekends fishing with my sweetheart Carrie, and daughter Evalani, and being their “Gaff Man.” Both of them enjoy learning and trying new things out, just as much as I do.

Each Time is an Adventure

My ‘ohana headed out for some of our usual weekend fishing adventures. We got to our spot, and I started catching some bait. I hooked a bunch of po‘opa‘a (rockfish) and a few hinalea. Then Carrie and I started setting up our slide-bait poles.

We cast out our leads and slid our baits. No more than an hour had passed when Carrie’s reel went off. She hooked a nice-sized ‘omilu and brought it to gaff. It was a blessing.

The next few hours were pretty quiet. Carrie grabbed her plugging setup and started throwing her jig while Evalani and I stayed at camp. I heard Carrie yell, “I’m on! I’m on!” I looked and saw her pole bent over and Carrie boosting up a fish.
