GET READY FOR THE NIGHT

We’re at that exciting time of year when late summer shifts into autumn, bringing with it a host of new sporting opportunities. One of my favourites is after-dark hunting, which becomes a whole lot easier as the days get shorter.

Plenty of us continue our nocturnal hunting right through the year, although it’s not nearly as appealing when darkness doesn’t close in until after 10pm. That’s changing now, and dusk is already setting in early enough to sneak in the odd midweek session without feeling too sleep-deprived to work the next day.

If you have had a layoff, it’s well worth checking out your kit and brushing up on your technique in readiness for the months ahead. And those of us who’ve been hard at it right through the summer can benefit from giving our gear a once-over to ensure that it’s in tip-top condition ready for the busy season.
