Some things we take for granted. The rising of the sun, water in the taps, being able to buy our preferred brand of lead pellets for our airguns. This last one, however, is under threat. UK REACH is a review of the industrial use of chemicals that's being carried out for the Health and Safety Executive and the UK government. Its current position is that ALL lead ammunition, including airgun pellets, should be banned for outdoor use.

Shocking stuff. But there are two bits of good news. Firstly, no final decision has yet been made and UK REACH is still consulting with the shooting industry. Secondly, BASC has gone to bat on behalf of British airgunners. BASC's view is that such a ban would be harmful and unnecessary. It's submitted a report to UK REACH that it hopes will persuade the HSE to bin any ban.
