PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Good Morning to all of the trapping community From Az.: Boy what a wonderful storm we had last week it gave most of the State some of the needed moisture to help the Habitat to make it possible for a better fur harvest next year. From what I have been told this year was very thin for most species so we welcome the moisture. I know the Fur witch I have handled this year has been good stuff due to the cold wet Oct. and then continuing on through the winter hopefully we will be blessed with this same kind of weather next winter. Our season is now over and it time to start getting ready for next year most of us have a lot work to do to clean up last year and getting things ready for next year. We hope you have a grate year.

We have been invited to work with the National Trapping Ass. To host the Western Reagan Sport Expo This will be held on the 7-9 of June and it will be held in Holbrook Az. The reason for that is because it will be attended by all the neighboring states and Holbrook seemed to the best available location it will be held at the Navajo County Fairgrounds. If you are reading this and you are in the western states you will make sure you want to attend this event We have never this kind of a opportunity before so let’s make the best of it. This event planning is well under way. For those of you who are members of The ATA we will be needing all the help we can get if we don’t get hold of you for help please call me ((928-243-0973) and we will make sure we will have a place for you.

There are still many of our old supporters who have not renewed their membership for this year if you should fit in this group please get hold of our membership sec. (Carrie Crouther) You can call her at 928-699-4305 leave her a message or give her a text and get your name back on our mailing list.

The Arizona Game and Fish are still looking for People that can get certified to instruct there Trappers training course if you should be interested in being one of those instructors you can contact the education department of the game and fish or let me know (928) 243-0973 and I will help you set that up.

Our association is also looking for new ideas that can help our growth we always need to recruit new members.

I want to personally thank Lance for holding things together for the past year and look forward to working with him this next year.

A few things to remember

1. A trap in the ground is worth more than 100 traps in the truck.

2. If the animal is not there you won’t catch it

3. If you should catch the animal and dispatch him he not there anymore. Nor is any of it’s increase

4. If you catch all the animals out of an area then there won’t be any for next year

Happy Trapping and May the force be with you and, may the Trapping God smile upon you

EDITOR’S REPORT JULY

At the time of this writing, the 60th Annual NTA Convention is just a few days away. Unfortunately, I am unable to attend due to work obligations. The demo lineup, list of events, and number of vendors will no doubt provide something for everyone.

How come nuisance beaver work seems to pick up in July and August?? Where are these jobs November – February? The Arkansas Trappers Association 2019 Fall Convention is right around the corner and will be held Sept. 14th at Camp Robinson Special Use Area, 311 Clinton Road, Conway, AR. Jeff Dunlap has donated a tanned Alaska Lynx fur which will be auctioned at this event! Many thanks to Jeff for this special donation. The coordinator for this year’s ATA Fall Convention is Doug Henderson, and additional details are still being hammered out. Stay tuned or better yet, just plan on attending and you won’t be disappointed.

Shortly after the ATA Fall Convention, the ATA Workshop is scheduled for Oct. 25 – 27 at Camp Clear Fork. Aaron Hitchcock is coordinating this event and always does a great job. It seems we can always use help, so if you can assist or simply want more information on this event, please contact Aaron at 479-997-5361. Space is limited and new attendees have priority, so make sure you either reach out to Aaron or visit our website for more information.

Until next time, Eric Kindsfater

I’m in the middle of a 150-acre muskrat marsh. The water is hip deep in most places. Sets for bodygrip traps are few and far between. I have gathered up all of the longspring traps in my arsenal just to keep up this job on a three-day rotation. Inclu

In early 2023 I stopped by the fur auction in Glenns Ferry, Idaho. I wasn’t there to purchase anything, I was mostly just curious on how other trappers had done. The fur tables were loaded with bobcat, fox, coyote and other assorted furs ready for sa
