ASTON MARTIN

The latest version of Aston’s most affordable car, the Vantage, arrives with new input from part-owner Daimler, including the Mercedes 4.0-litre twinturbo V8 that’s good for 375kW of power and a 0-100km/h claim of 3.4 seconds. An eight-speed automatic, rear-wheel drive and an electronic limited slip differential put it to the road, with torque vectoring across the rear axle as well.

A lithe 1530kg, in part due to a bonded aluminium chassis derived from the DB11, makes it a legitimate rival to the Porsche 911 Turbo, as does the price, which will be close to $300,000.

The second half of 2018 brings Audi’s RS5 Sportback and A6.
