THE NEW MODEL DIARY
ALFA ROMEO
As we went to press, the availability and pricing of Alfa’s limited edition hero Giulia variant, the Giulia GTA, were yet to be confirmed. There’s only 500 being made, to celebrate Alfa’s 110 year anniversary, and under the bonnet is the same 2.9-litre twin turbo V8 that powers the Quadrifoglio, with an extra 28kW of power, now up to 403kW at 6500rpm. Peak torque remains 600Nm from 2500-5500rpm.
GTA stands for “Gran Turismo Alleggerita”, signifying a weight reduction of around 110kg, which also helps shave 0.2 seconds off the Quadrifoglio’s 0-100km/h time, to just 3.6 seconds.
You get a titanium Akrapovic exhaust, 20-inch centre lock wheels and an aerodynamic kit developed by Sauber F1. The GTAm variant is basically a road legal race car, with two seats, internal roll cage and six point seat belts. No pricing details as yet.
ASTON MARTIN
Aston Martin’s first SUV, the DBX, is now available priced at $357,000, but you’ll probably have to wait a while for delivery as there’s a sizeable queue of buyers.
