Some Stars Shine Brighter

The Indian car industry is a force to be reckoned with. All the international big names are here or are about to enter and we’ve had two new brands step in this past year alone. From entry-level models to the best premium-class and high-performance examples, the year gone by witnessed some incredible automobiles and some iconic badges being brought into India.

The Car India Awards 2020 recognize the best offerings from the Indian automobile industry this year, just as they have been doing for the past 15 years. This year’s gala celebration event had the honour of hosting the biggest names in the automotive fraternity for a memorable evening for many.

The Jury Meet

The esteemed jury of Car India Awards 2020 diligently test-drove every single four-wheeler contending for the coveted award. The contenders consist of new model-year automobiles which were launched in India between 1 December 2018 and 30 November 2019. Only the winners from each category or sub-segment make it to the final short-list comprising those vying for the Automobile of the Year Award.

The award process involves a panel of renowned automotive journalists, editors, racing drivers, and the television media in the voting process. A two-pronged pattern of voting has been put in place and a winning vehicle in each category is announced after the final tabulation of scores given by individual jurors. All votes are kept a well-guarded secret and are sealed and validated by the auditors.

The final winner of the Automobile of the Year Award and the winners in various sub-categories were revealed at a grand award ceremony on 19 February 2020. You may read about each of them in the following pages.

Sarmad Kadiri
